Ski Racing With the Cleveland Fagowees

Just like the World Cup – only slower.

Big hills. Big talk. Questionable technique.

This is the one with the speed, the cold air, and the belief—however briefly—that we’re charging a World Cup course. There’s trash talk on the chairlift, intense focus for about three turns, and then a strong return to reality. Some of us ski aggressively, some ski defensively, some ski like courage and talent showed up on different days. All good. We push when it’s fun, back off when it’s smart, and keep the drama mostly theatrical. The goal isn’t medals or glory—it’s full days, good runs, loud laughs, and ending up at the bottom upright with stories worth exaggerating. All that said, we’re not above standing on a podium should we be called on.

We are a member club of the Cleveland Metro Ski Council, an organization that promotes and organizes ski racing and trips. We race at their events and earn points for, well, you guessed it, the Cleveland Fagowees!

We race in Ohio at Snow Trails and in New York State at Swain, Bristol, Peek n Peak, and Holiday Valley. Join us as we carpool to races, rent houses, cook dinner together and justify our results over a beer at the bar. Fast is good, upright finishes are better.
