We show up early, talk a little trash, and pretend we’re way tougher than we are. Then we help each other load boats, share extra gloves, fix flat tires, and make sure everyone gets home smiling. And maybe a little money moves around the Euchre table and there is a touch of competition for racing medals. There’s grit here, sure — but it’s the kind that comes with inside jokes, post-day debriefs, and the quiet understanding that nobody gets left behind. Strong days. Cold beer. Good friends. Stories that stick.

What do fagowees do?

We absolutely keep score — just not of anything that matters. Trash talk is pretty much mandatory. Pushing a little past common sense is encouraged. Big days tend to spill into bigger evenings and the laughs keep coming. We try and respect the rules. Although there was that one time when a baseball game broke out in the hotel parking lot the night before our kayak camping trip. But that is more the exception. We chase effort, good chaos, and the kind of friendships that only show up when you’ve been too cold, too hot, tired, and laughing together.
